Preventing Tire Emergencies

The two most important things to do to prevent tire emergencies:

  • Maintain proper inflation pressure
  • Have any sidewall cracking, bulging or feathering inspected by a qualified tire professional

USE OF TIRE DRESSINGS

In most cases, tire dressings are designed to improve the tire sidewall appearance and are not intended to prevent weathering. Chemical protectants in the tire's sidewall compound prevent degradation from ozone, UV light, and sunlight. This protection technology has been developed by Goodyear over many years and provides optimal weather protection during the tire's use. Use of alcohol-based or petroleum-based dressings may interfere chemically with this built-in protection. For this reason, tire manufacturers recommend using soap and water to clean your tires.
