Technical Development Program

As an engineer or scientist in Goodyear’s technical development program, you will continue to learn and master new challenges in your area of expertise. There are opportunities to work on a variety of projects that expand your skills and knowledge, while building on your existing education. Engineers and scientists at Goodyear work on a wide variety of projects that could include:

  • Developing new products for our customers
  • Analyzing critical tire-vehicle interactions
  • Developing new testing technology to verify or predict product performance
  • Developing new materials for our products
  • Serving as a technical liaison with auto manufacturers
  • Providing technical support for manufacturing facilities around the world

Education and Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have a passion for engineering and a long-term desire to help drive Goodyear’s high performance organization. Other requirements include:

  • B.S./M.S. in Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Mechanics, Chemical Engineering, Polymer Science, Materials Science, Chemistry, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Civil Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Statistics, or Safety/Environmental Engineering
  • At least a 3.0 GPA or proven academic achievement in core engineering courses coupled with Formula SAE experience.

Field Sales Development Program

The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company’s field sales development program is an opportunity for talented college graduates to enter a formal training program for key roles in our North American Tire Sales Organization throughout the United States.

Graduates accepted into the program will work on a wide variety of projects that could include:

  • Servicing tire dealers and wholesale distributors
  • Establishing strategic new dealerships and distributors by selling products to prospective dealers
  • Assisting large regional retailers and corporate accounts
  • Preparing account plans with defined targeted sales growth for designated accounts
  • Finding new distribution opportunities where voids exist in sales territory or lack of sales performance
  • Selling business solutions that include tire products and dealers to Commercial Fleets
  • Facilitating the sell out of our products by building product screens that create solutions and value for our dealers
  • Making account maintenance calls on wholesale distributor warehouses and associated dealers
  • Becoming the sales/business consultant of choice among multi branded dealers

Key objectives include:

  • Meeting sales objectives that include units, dollars, product mix, and margin
  • Meeting growth objectives
  • Facilitating dealer sell out by coordinating promotions, training and providing point of sale recommendations

Education and Qualifications

Manufacturing Leadership Development Program

The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company’s manufacturing leadership development program (MLDP) is a one-year program designed to cultivate competitive leaders with the skills and experience to perform well in manufacturing positions within Goodyear.

Participants rotate through four hands-on manufacturing assignments, resulting in rich exposure to the entire manufacturing process. The four rotating modules will include:

  • Continuous Improvement;
  • Technology Engineer/Specialist;
  • Maintenance Engineer/Specialist; and,
  • Area Manager.

Each participant will work closely with manufacturing professionals from different disciplines and will also be paired with an experienced leader to serve as their mentor. In addition, MLDP participants will spend time attending a series of leadership development workshops, designed to broaden the participant’s knowledge base and provide unique insights into leadership strategy and application.

Co-op Program
In addition to the MLDP, Goodyear is also seeking students to participate in our formal co-op program. Benefits of a Goodyear co-op include:

Assistant Manager Training Program

The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company’s management trainee program is an opportunity for college graduates pursuing a career in management to cultivate their skills in a real-world business environment.

Human Resources Leadership Program

The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company’s human resources leadership program is an opportunity for college graduates pursuing a career in HR to cultivate their skills in a real-world business environment

Graduates entering the human resources leadership program will typically be placed on three nine-month rotational assignments, which could include:

  • Talent Management;
  • HR generalist functions;
  • Compensation and Benefits;
  • Leadership Development;
  • Organizational Effectiveness;
  • Labor Relations; and,
  • Potential cross functional roles.

Assignments will include both corporate headquarters and manufacturing locations, so relocation is required.

Global Procurement Development Program

The mission of Goodyear’s Global Procurement department is to create a new standard of excellence in Strategic Sourcing by leading the industry in Supplier Innovation and Global Supplier Value Chain Management.  This department seeks to develop and implement industry leading strategies for the procurement of materials, equipment, goods and services with the required quality, delivery and cost to support the global Business Units and Corporate business objectives.

Procurement uses global leverage and concentrated expertise to develop and coordinate the implementation of sourcing strategies for raw materials, equipment, goods and services. This includes development of long and near term commodity strategies, supplier strategies, market analysis, competitive intelligence, aggregation, supply chain management, e-commerce and serving as a center of expertise for all procured items. Procurement interfaces with virtually every area of the company.

Finance & Accounting Development Program

College graduates entering the Finance and Accounting Development Program (FADP) will typically be placed on four, one-year long assignments. These will include three core assignments in Financial Planning & Analysis, Accounting, and Auditing, plus one supplemental rotation that will be determined based on the company's needs and the associate's interest. Assignments will include both corporate headquarters and manufacturing locations, therefore, relocation and travel flexibility is required.

The FADP is intended to attract recent college graduates, both undergraduate and graduate students, in the field of business financial administration, and/or accounting and develop them, through a broad exposure to various financial activities, into future Finance and Accounting leaders. The FADP program is the exclusive entrance point for new college hires into Goodyear Financed in North America.
